As of 2013, ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) requires validation of domain registrant contact information. This applies whenever you register a new domain or update the registrant details of an existing domain. Validation ensures that the contact information associated with your domain is accurate and up to date.
When Validation is Required
You must validate your domain in the following cases:
-
New domain registration – when you purchase and register a new domain.
-
Registrant contact updates – when you change the registrant’s first name, last name, or email address for an existing domain.
How Validation Works
For New Domain Registrations
-
After registering a domain with Ruachost, you will receive an email at the registrant email address you provided.
-
The email will come from: donotreply@name-services.com
(⚠️ This is not a Ruachost email address. You may need to whitelist it so it doesn’t go to spam.)
-
The subject line will be: Important Notice Regarding Your Domain Name(s).
-
Click the verification link in the email to confirm your registration.
For Updated Registrant Information
-
If you update the registrant’s first name, last name, or email address, you will receive a similar email at the new email address.
-
The email will again come from
donotreply@name-services.com. -
Click the verification link to confirm the updated information.
Deadline for Validation
-
You have 15 days to complete the validation process.
-
If you do not verify within 15 days, your domain will be suspended until validation is completed.
Domain Status Codes
Domains have status codes that indicate their current state (e.g., active, suspended, pending verification).
-
You can check your domain’s status by running a WHOIS lookup.
