By default, WordPress hides the option to change the author name of a post. However, you may need to update the author field if content was uploaded by the wrong user or if you want to reassign posts. On ruachost.com, you can enable this option directly from the dashboard.

Why Change Author Names?

  • Correct mistakes when posts are assigned to the wrong user.

  • Reassign content after staff changes.

  • Attribute guest posts to the right author.

  • Maintain consistency in blog branding.

Steps to Enable Author Selection

  1. Log in to WordPress with an administrator account.

  2. In the dashboard, go to Posts → All Posts.

  3. Select the post you want to edit → Click Edit.

  4. At the top right of the editor, click Screen Options.

  5. Check the box for Author.

  6. Scroll down to the bottom of the post editor → You’ll now see an Author dropdown menu.

  7. Select the desired author from the list.

  8. Click Update to save changes.

✅ The post will now display the new author name.

Important Notes

  • Only users with appropriate roles (Author, Editor, Administrator) will appear in the dropdown.

  • If you need to add a new author, go to Users → Add New first.

  • Always double‑check attribution to avoid miscrediting content.
