Changing your cPanel password

Your cPanel password is the master key to your hosting account. It grants access to:

• cPanel itself

• MySQL databases

• SSH

• Primary FTP account

For security, you should change this password when you first set up your site and then periodically afterwards.

How to Change Your cPanel Password

1. Log in to cPanel

   • If you’re unsure how, see our guide: Logging in and out of cPanel.

2. Go to Password & Security

   • On the cPanel Home screen, scroll to the Preferences section.

   • Click Password & Security.

3. Enter Your Current Password

   • In the Old Password field, type your current password.

4. Set a New Password

   • In the New Password field, type your new password.

   • Retype it in the New Password (Again) field.

   • Tip: Click Password Generator to create a strong, random password.

5. Save Changes

   • Click Change your password now!

   • Your new password takes effect immediately.

Resetting a Forgotten Password

• If you forget your cPanel password, you can usually reset it from the Ruachost Dashboard.

• Alternatively, on the cPanel login page, click Reset Password and follow the prompts.

• If the reset option isn’t available, open a support ticket and Ruachost can enable it for you.
