Setting Up AutoSSL on Your Domain

AutoSSL is a cPanel feature that automatically installs and renews free SSL certificates for your domains. This ensures your website is always accessible securely via HTTPS without manual intervention.

 Steps to Set Up AutoSSL

1. Fix Domain Issues

AutoSSL requires properly configured DNS. If your domain isn’t pointing to your hosting provider, SSL issuance may fail. Common fixes include:

• Update Nameservers

  • Point your domain’s nameservers to your hosting provider.

  • Example: change from your registrar’s default nameservers to ns1.hosting.com and ns2.hosting.com.

• Update A Records

  • Point your domain’s A record to your server’s IP address.

  • Contact your registrar if you need help updating DNS records.

• Set Up DCV Record

  • If nameservers or A records don’t work, add a Domain Control Validation (DCV) TXT record in DNS.

  • Example: cpanel-dcv-test-record.example.com with the value provided in cPanel.

 Do not attempt to reconfigure AutoSSL until DNS issues are resolved.

2. Enable AutoSSL

1. Log in to cPanel.

2. On the Tools page → Security section, click SSL/TLS Status.

3. Select the domain(s) you want to secure.

4. Click Include Domains during AutoSSL.

5. AutoSSL will automatically issue and install certificates.

3. Verify Installation

• Visit your site with https://yourdomain.com.

• Look for the padlock icon in the browser.

• In cPanel, check SSL/TLS Status to confirm the certificate is active.
