Changing PHP versions and settings using PHP Selector

The PHP Selector in cPanel allows you to change the PHP version, enable or disable extensions, and configure PHP settings for your hosting account. This tool makes it easy to manage your PHP environment without editing configuration files manually.

Why Use PHP Selector?

• Switch between different PHP versions for compatibility.

• Enable or disable PHP extensions (e.g., mysqli, gd, curl).

• Adjust PHP settings such as memory_limit, upload_max_filesize, and error_log.

• Avoid maintaining custom php.ini files — all settings are managed directly in cPanel.

Changing the PHP Version

1. Log in to cPanel.

2. On the Tools page → Software section, click Select PHP Version.

3. cPanel displays the current PHP version.

4. From the Current PHP Version list, select the version you want to use.

5. Click Apply.

   • The new PHP version takes effect immediately.

Managing PHP Extensions

1. In the PHP Selector, go to the Extensions tab.

2. Check the box next to an extension to enable it.

3. Uncheck the box to disable it.

4. Changes are saved automatically and take effect immediately.

Tip: Click Reset to default to restore the default extension configuration.

Configuring PHP Settings

1. In the PHP Selector, go to the Options tab.

2. Locate the setting you want to modify (e.g., memory_limit, upload_max_filesize).

3. Click the value next to the setting:

   • A dropdown list or text box will appear depending on the setting type.

4. Select or enter the desired value.

5. Changes are saved automatically and take effect immediately.

Tip: A Reset to default link appears beneath each setting after modification. Click it to revert to the default value.
