The Backuply tool in cPanel makes it easy to back up and restore your website files, databases, and email accounts. It provides both local backups (stored on your hosting server) and remote backups (stored offsite for extra protection).

 

Why Use Backuply?

  • Protect your data against accidental deletion, corruption, or hacking.

  • Restore files, databases, or email accounts quickly.

  • Automate backups with scheduled jobs.

  • Store backups locally or on remote servers (Google Drive, OneDrive, Amazon S3, FTP, SSH).

 

Configuring Backups

1. Add a Remote Backup Server (Optional)

  1. Log in to cPanel.

  2. Go to Tools → Software → Backuply.

  3. In the left sidebar, click Add Backup Server.

  4. Select the type of server (SSH, Amazon S3, FTP, Google Drive, OneDrive).

  5. Enter the connection details and click Test Connection.

  6. Once successful, click Submit to save the configuration.

 

2. Schedule Automated Backups

  1. In Backuply, click Add Backup Job.

  2. Choose the backup server (local or remote).

  3. Select what to include:

    • Full Backup → All files, databases, and email accounts.

    • Home Backup → Files in your home directory.

    • Database Backup → MySQL databases.

    • Mail Backup → Email accounts.

  4. Set the schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, or custom cron job).

  5. Click Schedule to save.

 

3. Create an Instant Backup

  1. In Backuply, go to Restore & Download.

  2. Select the item you want to back up (full, home, database, mail).

  3. Click Backup Now.

  4. Backuply creates the backup immediately.

 

Restoring Backups

  1. In Backuply, go to Restore & Download.

  2. Select the item you want to restore (files, databases, email accounts, domains, cron jobs, FTP accounts).

  3. Locate the backup in the list and click the yellow arrow icon to restore.

  4. Confirm by clicking Yes.

  5. The selected data is restored.

 

Viewing Backup Logs

  • In Backuply, click Logs in the left sidebar.

  • View details of past backup jobs.

  • Use Refresh Logs to update or Clear Logs to reset the log history.

 

Notes

  • Backuply is available on VPS and Dedicated servers.

  • Always test restores on a staging environment before applying them to live sites.

  • Keep both local and remote backups for maximum redundancy.
