Steps to Install SMF

Log in to cPanel.

Navigate to the Softaculous Apps Installer section.

Search for SMF.
-
In the Softaculous dashboard, type SMF in the search box.

Or browse under Forums → SMF (Simple Machines Forum).

Click Install.

The installation page will open.

Choose Protocol.

Select
https://orhttps://wwwif your site has an SSL certificate. -
Select
http://orhttp://wwwif SSL is not installed.

Choose Domain.

Select the domain where SMF will be installed.

Set Directory.

Leave blank if you want SMF installed at the root (e.g.,
example.com). -
Enter a folder name (e.g.,
forum) if you want SMF installed atexample.com/forum.

Configure Forum Settings.

Board Name → Enter the name of your forum (appears in browser title bar).

Board Email → Enter the forum’s email address.

Set Admin Account.
-
Admin Username → Choose a unique username.

Admin Password → Use a strong password (Softaculous provides a strength meter or can generate one).

Real Name → Enter the display name for the administrator.

Admin Email → Enter the administrator’s email address.

Select Language.

Choose the default language for your forum.

Database Settings.
-
Provide a database name or accept the default.

Configure table prefix if needed.

Advanced Options (Optional).

Configure automated backups and rotation.

Enable email notifications for updates.

Install.
-
Review settings and click Install.

Wait for confirmation. Softaculous will display the SMF login URL (e.g.,
example.com/forum/index.php).
