Accessing Email Accounts Through Webmail

Learn how to access your email account using webmail, the easiest and fastest way to check your mail without any special setup.

This article explains the available webmail options and provides links for more details.

What is Webmail?
Webmail applications allow you to access your email accounts directly from your web browser. With webmail, you can read and send messages, manage your contacts, and perform common email tasks.

Third-party email clients such as Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook may offer more advanced features, but they require additional configuration.

Ruachost.com offers two control panels, both include access to Roundcube Webmail:

cPanel Webmail
If your hosting account uses cPanel, you can access your mailbox through the Roundcube webmail application.
For more details on using webmail with cPanel, see the related article.

Accessing Email Accounts with Client Applications
Learn how to set up a desktop or mobile email client to access your mailbox. This option requires more setup than webmail but offers greater flexibility and features.

This section explains how to configure a client email application to connect to a ruachost.com server.

Note
• Make sure you’ve already created at least one email account for your domain. If not, follow the article on how to create an email account in cPanel.
• You should also have a basic understanding of email protocols (SMTP, IMAP, and POP3). If you’re unfamiliar with these, review the email protocol guide before setting up a client.

How to Set Up a Client Email Application
Popular email clients include Thunderbird, Outlook, Eudora, and macOS Mail. Some can automatically configure accounts based on your login details, while others require manual setup.

Regardless of the application, you must configure:
Incoming mail (using POP3 or IMAP)
Outgoing mail (using SMTP)

Incoming Email: Configuring POP3 and IMAP
To connect your email client to a ruachost.com server, use the following information:

  1. Authentication Settings:
Username: The full email address you created in cPanel (for example, webmaster@example.com).
Password: The password you set for that account in cPanel.

  2. Server Name:
mail.example.com — replace example.com with your domain name.
    • Or, use the complete ruachost.com server name assigned to your account. (See the related article for instructions on finding your server name.)

Important
If you plan to use secure SSL/TLS access with POP3 or IMAP (recommended), use the ruachost.com server name instead of your domain. Otherwise, your email client may display a certificate warning because the shared SSL certificate won’t match your domain name.

  1. Port Settings:

Protocol Secure (SSL/TLS) Non-secure
POP3 995 110
IMAP 993 143

Outgoing Email: Configuring SMTP
To send emails, your client must be connected to an SMTP server. Although it’s recommended to use the ruachost.com SMTP server, you may also use your ISP’s SMTP server if preferred.

Note
If you choose an alternate SMTP provider, contact them for the correct configuration details.

To configure your email client to send messages through the ruachost.com SMTP server, use the following settings:

  1. Authentication Settings:
Username: The full email address (e.g., webmaster@example.com).
Password: The password you set for that account in cPanel.

  2. Server Name:
mail.example.com — replace example.com with your domain name.
    • Or, use the assigned ruachost.com server name for your account.

Important
When using secure SSL/TLS access with SMTP (recommended), always use the ruachost.com server name. Otherwise, your email client may display certificate mismatch warnings.

  1. Port Settings:

Connection Type Secure (SSL/TLS) Non-secure
SMTP 465 or 587 25 or 2525

Note
Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) block port 25 to prevent spam. If that happens, use port 2525 instead.
