The cPanel Domains tool is your one‑stop interface for creating and managing all of the domains, subdomains, addon domains, and aliases in your hosting account.

Starting the Domains Tool

  1. Log in to cPanel.

  2. On the Tools page → Domains section, click Domains.

  3. You’ll see a list of all domains associated with your account.

Listing and Searching

  • The main page displays all domains.

  • Use the Search box to quickly find a specific domain.

  • Under Actions, you can:

    • Manage → open the domain’s management page.

    • Create Email → go directly to the email account creation page.

Managing Existing Domains

Click Manage next to a domain to open its management page. Options include:

  • Change Document Root → update the directory where site files are stored.

  • Delete Domain → remove the domain (primary domain cannot be deleted).

  • Create an Email Address → set up mail accounts.

  • Create a Site with Site Publisher → launch a quick site.

  • Modify Zones → adjust DNS records.

  • Modify Redirects → configure page redirects.

Creating New Domains

Addon Domains

  1. From the Domains tool main page, click Create a New Domain.

  2. Enter the domain name.

  3. Clear the Share document root box.

  4. Specify a dedicated document root directory (outside public_html is recommended).

  5. Enter a subdomain identifier.

  6. Click Submit.

Important: Avoid placing addon domains in subdirectories under public_html. This can cause conflicts (especially with WordPress) and security risks if the parent site is compromised.

Subdomains

  1. From the Domains tool main page, click Create a New Domain.

  2. Enter the subdomain name (e.g., blog.example.com).

  3. Clear the Share document root box.

  4. Specify a dedicated document root directory.

  5. Click Submit.

Aliases (Parked Domains)

Aliases point additional domains to your primary site.

  1. From the Domains tool main page, click Create a New Domain.

  2. Enter the alias domain name.

  3. Select the Share document root box.

  4. Click Submit.
