Installing WebMail Lite using Softaculous

WebMail Lite is an open‑source, lightweight webmail client written in PHP. It provides a simple, modern interface for accessing email via IMAP and SMTP. With Softaculous, you can install WebMail Lite quickly and easily through cPanel.

Steps to Install WebMail Lite

1. Log in to cPanel.

   • Navigate to the Softaculous Apps Installer section.

2. Search for WebMail Lite.

   • In the Softaculous dashboard, type WebMail Lite in the search box.

   • Or browse under Mails → WebMail Lite.

3. Click Install.

   • The installation page will open.

4. Choose Protocol.

   • Select https:// or https://www if your site has an SSL certificate.

   • Select http:// or http://www if SSL is not installed.

   • ⚠️ Important: Because WebMail Lite handles login credentials, always use SSL connections.

5. Choose Domain.

   • Select the domain where WebMail Lite will be installed.

6. Set Directory.

   • Leave blank if you want WebMail Lite installed at the root (e.g., example.com).

   • Enter a folder name (e.g., mail) if you want WebMail Lite installed at example.com/mail.

7. Configure Incoming Mail Settings.

   • Protocol → IMAP4.

   • Server Address → Your domain (e.g., example.com) or hosting server name.

   • Port → 993.

   • Use SSL → On.

8. Configure Outgoing Mail Settings.

   • Server Address → Your domain (e.g., example.com).

   • Port → 465.

   • Use SSL → On.

9. Configure Admin Account.

   • Admin Username → Choose a unique username.

   • Admin Password → Use a strong password (Softaculous provides a strength meter or can generate one).

   • Admin Email → Enter the administrator’s email address.

10. Database Settings.

    • Provide a database name or accept the default.

    • Configure table prefix if needed.

11. Advanced Options (Optional).

    • Configure automated backups and rotation.

    • Enable email notifications for updates.

    • Choose auto‑upgrade options for WebMail Lite.

12. Install.

    • Review settings and click Install.

    • Wait for confirmation. Softaculous will display the WebMail Lite login URL (e.g., example.com/mail).
